John Alessio's return to the UFC was a tough one. Facing one of the toughest grapplers in the division, Mark Bocek, is not exactly a warm up fight. But John stepped in on late notice and put on a great show for the fans. Unfortunately the judges awarded the unanimous decision to Bocek however John surely has impressed the UFC fans and should get another shot soon!

Alessio Victorious at Superior Cage Combat!

John Alessio showed that he is a complete mixed martial artist in his fight against Shawn Fitzsimmons at Superior Cage Combat in Las Vegas. Throughout the first round he displayed his standup skills, snapping his jab into Shawn's face again and again. In the second, he Put Fitzsimmons to sleep with a rear naked choke. Alessio Returns to the Cage at Superior Cage Combat 2

Denaro welterweight John Alessio(31-14) will be making his return to the cage on August 20th at Superior Cage Combat 2. He will be facing Waachiim Spiritwolf (9-8-1) , a San Diego native that has competed in such organizations as Strikeforce, Bellator, and King of the Cage.
Alessio, also a veteran of multiple organizations himself, is coming off a loss to Siyar Bahadurzada, who he fought this past March in Belgium.
This 170-lb matchup will co-headline the event, which will take place at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

Alessio Wins Title!

John Alessio staged a dramatic comeback victory to remain unbeaten in the Tachi Palace Fights welterweight division and to take control of the vacant championship belt this past week in Leemore, California. After a slow, methodical two rounds, John came out ready to make it happen against opponent Phil Collins (no, not that Phil Collins). After landing a counter left that floored Collins, Alessio pounced and finished the fight to lay claim to his belt!

Alessio scored brutal takedowns and established complete control before finishing his opponent with a Kimura submission that forced the tapout. John 'The Natural' Alessio fell victim to grappling superstar Andre Galvao at Dream 8 in Tokyo, Japan this weekend. It was a tough loss for John and marks his second defeat in a row. Both fighters started the match slow, giving respect to each other's abilities. Alessio has stronger stand up skills and it showed but once the fight went to the ground Galvao was able to lock in an arm bar that ended John's night. John is a veteran fighter and will return better than ever!

Alessio Disqualified due to Illegal Knee.

The fight between John Alessio and Brock Larson was supposed to be a battle and have the winner moving on to face the Champion Carlos Condit. Instead the fight ended in disqualification leaving the fans wondering what would have been. After sweeping his opponent with ease, Alessio delivered a crushing right knee to Larson’s jaw while he was still down on the ground. The strike was deemed to be too severe and Larson could not continue. Both men clearly stated their growing dislike for one another and and a rematch could be in order.

Canadian Defeats Russian Serdyukov!

In his first fight after battling Carlos Condit in a bid for the WEC Welterweight Championship, John “The Natural” Alessio wasted little time in getting rid of Alex Serdyukov. Alessio, who scored a submission victory over Serdyukov last year, got another one Sunday when he snapped on a guillotine choke and forced the Russian to tap at 1:19 of the first round. Alessio, who said he left his fight in the gym when he met Condit on March 24, was aggressive from the beginning. Serdyukov shot in on Alessio and tried for a takedown, but Alessio slapped on a guillotine and Serdyukov quickly tapped. "It's my move, man," Alessio said. And now that Alessio has your attention, Condit but take quick notice as well because The Natural is on his way back to slap it on him.

The hometown favorite Alves was successful in stopping the takedown and was able to land his leg kicks, which earned him the victory. “The Natural” John Alessio came out victorious at WEC “Hot August Nights” Thursday night. He faced a tough test as he took on Alex “The Russian Nightmare” Serdyukov who was moving down from middleweight to face Alessio. The size difference was apparent by fight time as Alessio was the much smaller of the two. The bout was a war from the opening bell which saw both opponents go back and forth in a see saw battle. Serdyukov had Alessio in trouble late in the second round but the tides turned going into the third round. Alessio was able to put his opponent down with some big shots and secure a rear naked choke at the 1:52 mark of the third round. Alessio was very happy with the win and looks forward to fighting in September.

Serdyukov is best known for his recent victory over Mark Weir and is coming down in weight to face Alessio.
